The Situation

B came to Maga Therapy feeling emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed by life and work pressures. Although she had experienced depression in the past, she did not feel clinically depressed when she reached out for support.

Instead, she described a deep sense of burnout, stress and emotional fragility that had gradually built over time.

Alongside the pressures of work and everyday life, B had also experienced difficult childhood experiences that had left a lasting emotional imprint. These earlier experiences appeared to contribute to patterns of self-doubt and a heightened sensitivity to feeling criticised or judged.

Situations at work were triggering intense emotional reactions. She often felt embarrassed, incompetent and as though she was failing or letting people down.

These thoughts left her feeling sad, discouraged and increasingly hopeless about her ability to cope.

B also carried a painful belief that she was becoming a burden to her partner, which added another layer of shame and pressure.

The Physical Symptoms

Like many people experiencing prolonged stress, B’s body was holding the emotional strain.

She described:

  • A persistent heaviness in her chest
  • A raised pulse rate during stressful moments
  • Strong sensations in her throat and stomach when she felt under pressure
  • Waves of shame and overwhelm that seemed to rise through her body

These sensations would intensify whenever she felt judged, criticised or worried that she was not coping well enough.

The Therapy Approach

B completed three Maga Evolve sessions, a therapeutic approach that combines body-based work with hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

The sessions focused on helping her nervous system release the physical sensations linked to stress, emotional overwhelm and earlier experiences that had shaped her response to pressure.

We worked directly with the areas where her body was holding the emotional response — the chest, throat and stomach — allowing those sensations to soften and shift.

Through gentle hypnotherapy and NLP techniques, the emotional meanings attached to these sensations were gradually reframed. This helped her mind and body move away from a constant state of internal pressure and self-criticism.

The Shift

Across the three sessions, B began to notice clear changes.

The heaviness in her chest reduced, the tension in her throat eased, and the feelings of overwhelm became far more manageable.

As her body settled, the emotional layers of shame and self-doubt also began to lift.

Situations that had previously triggered strong emotional reactions felt calmer and easier to navigate.

She described feeling clearer in her thinking and less trapped in the belief that she was failing or letting people down.

The Outcome

After the third session, B shared a message describing a noticeable shift in how she felt both emotionally and physically. She reported feeling calmer, lighter and much more like herself again.

Her experience highlights how releasing the body’s stored stress responses — including patterns linked to earlier life experiences — can create powerful emotional change in a relatively short period of time.

Client Reflection

“I wanted to say thank you for the treatments a few months ago. I can honestly say it’s been life changing. Since then I have felt more like myself than I have in years. I have experienced a fundamental shift in my being and I am incredibly grateful to you and the amazing work you do.”
